Sepp Froschauer

Sepp Froschauer (born January 15, 1907 in Naarn im Machlande , † March 23, 1986 in Linz ) was an Austrian conductor and composer .

Life

Sepp Froschauer was born as the eleventh of 14 children to a farming family in Naarn. He received private music lessons in singing, violin, flugelhorn and zither. From 1925 to 1934 he was a military musician under Kapellmeister Max Damberger in the Alpenjäger Regiment No. 7. From 1940 to 1944 he was a military conductor in the Motor Vehicle Replacement Department 17 in Enns .

From 1945 to 1972 Froschauer was Kapellmeister of the Linz Magistrate Music and administrator of the Linz city music archive, where he played a key role in its expansion. Under his direction, around 500 radio recordings and records were made on Radio Oberösterreich , Bayerischer Rundfunk and Wiener Rundfunk. He also played at the Linz Concert Association and gave concerts with the orchestra of the Linz State Theater and singers from the State Theater. In the post-war period, Froschauer also made services to the Naarn Music Association.
