Serafim Kolpakov Vasilyevich ( Russian Серафим Васильевич Колпаков * 10. January 1933 in Lipetsk , † 15. November 2011 in Moscow ) was a Russian Metallurg .

Life

Kolpakow came from a working-class family. In 1947 he began studying at the Lipetsk Metallurgical coal and steel pilot . In 1951 he became a brigadier at the Ascha smelting works , then foreman , technologist and finally deputy workshop manager . In 1954 he began his service in the Navy . He completed the one-year course at the naval aviation engineering school and then served as an aircraft mechanic in a mine - torpedo aviation regiment. In 1957 he returned to the Lipetsk smelting works and became head master. In 1958 he became head of the smelting department of the foundry of the Lipetsk tractor works . In addition, he completed a distance learning course at the Moscow Institute for Steel and Alloys (MISiS) , graduating in 1963 as an engineer - metallurgist . In 1966 he became deputy chief and in 1967 chief of converter No. 1 of the Novolipetsk smelting works , of which he became director in 1970.

In 1978, Kolpakov became Deputy Minister for Steel Metallurgy of the USSR and headed the All Union Industrial Association of Metallurgy Enterprises from 1979 to 1982. In 1982 he became first deputy minister, 1985 minister and finally 1989 minister for all metallurgy (until 1990).

In 1985 Kolpakov became a doctor of technical sciences . In 1990 he became First Vice President of the Association for Perspective Materials (until 1992), in 1991 First Vice President of the Russian Engineering Academy, in 1992 President of the International Union of Metallurgists and in 2000 at the XI. Conference of the Russian Union of Industrial Entrepreneurs Member of the Management Board.

Kolpakov was a member of the CPSU from 1956 to 1991, a member of the Central Committee from 1986 to 1991 and a member of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR during the 11th session.

Kolpakov's grave is in the Trojekurovo cemetery in Moscow .
