Serafin Eberhart

Serafin Eberhart (born December 6, 1844 in Fendels , † January 25, 1921 in Absam ) was an Austrian sculptor .

Life

Serafin Eberhart studied from 1861 to 1865 in the painting and sculpture school of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna  and was then trained by Josef Gasser  in Vienna. In 1876 he received a grant from the Tyrolean estates, with the help of which he was able to study in Rome  and Florence  . He lived and then worked in Thaur .

Eberhart created almost exclusively religious sculptures such as grave monuments and altar figures in stone and wood. His strict style is reminiscent of his teacher Gasser.
