Sergei Nikolajewitsch Rewin ( Russian Сергей Николаевич Ревин ; born January 12, 1966 in Moscow , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian cosmonaut .

Education and professional life

After successfully completing secondary school No. 763 in Moscow in 1983, Rewin studied automation and electronics at the Moscow Institute of Electronic Technology until 1989 . From 1989 to 1993 he worked as an engineer in the Research and Production Company for Measurement Technology (NPO IT) in Korolev . In August 1993 he moved to the main design office of the space company NPO Energija .

Astronaut activity

On February 9, 1996 Rewin was selected as a cosmonaut candidate RKK Energijas, the training began on June 3, 1996. Completion of his basic training was delayed by three months until June 17, 1998 due to medical problems with his balance organ. He then worked in the ISS -Program. He completed survival training for an emergency landing with a Soyuz capsule together with Charles Simonyi and Oleg Artemjew in January 2007 in a forest near Moscow. He tried ditching the landing capsule in June 2008 in Sevastopol together with Oleg Nowizki and Jelena Serowa . Then he was in training for a long-term stay on the International Space Station , u. a. he was a substitute for Anatoly Ivanishin for his flight as a flight engineer for the Soyuz TMA-22 mission to the ISS.

Rewin was nominated as a flight engineer for ISS expeditions 29 and 30 in October 2009 , but was then replaced by Ivanishin. Rewin was then nominated in place of Konstantin Walkow as the flight engineer for ISS expeditions 31 and 32 .

The launch of the ISS took place on May 15, 2012 together with Gennadi Padalka and Joseph Acaba with the Soyuz TMA-04M spacecraft . The landing took place on September 17, 2012.

On April 21, 2017, Rewin was released from the Russian cosmonaut corps for health reasons.

Private

Sergei Rewin is married and has a son who was born in 2000. His hobbies include athletics , ballooning, and tourism .
