Sergei Sergejewitsch Nikolajew ( Russian Сергей Сергеевич Николаев ; born November 2, 1946 in Riga , Latvian SSR ; † May 16, 2016 in Moscow ) was a Soviet or Russian actor .

Life and accomplishments

Nikolayev was the head of a pioneer camp near the Gorky studio at a young age , where Alexander Rou's assistant Wera Sorokoum became aware of him. He undertook his first and most outstanding role for the portrayal of the spoiled and uncouth Tsar's son Andrei in The Beautiful Varvara . During the same period he lectured at the Faculty of Economics of the Gerasimov Institute for Cinematography . Since 1995 Nikolayev was a member of the "Central Council of the All-Russian Social-Political Movement Spiritual Heritage " and since 1996 belonged to the "Orthodox People's Movement".

He was honored with the titles Отличник кинематографии СССР ( Outstanding Film Artist of the USSR ) and Почётный кинематографист России (Honored Film Artist of Russia ) and other state awards.

Nikolayev died in the early morning hours of May 16, 2016 after a long illness in the Botkina Clinic in Moscow.
