Sergei Anatoljewitsch Petrenko ( Russian Сергей Анатольевич Петренко; born July 7, 1955 in Moscow ) is a former Russian football player who mainly played in midfield and worked as a football coach after his active career.

career

During his active career from 1972 to 1985, Petrenko was exclusively under contract with his hometown club Torpedo Moscow , with which he won the Soviet Union Football Cup in his first season in 1972 and the Soviet championship in autumn 1976 . In 1977 and 1982 he also reached the finals of the Soviet Cup with Torpedo, but failed in the first attempt at city ​​rivals Dynamo Moscow and in the second attempt at Dynamo Kiev .

Immediately after finishing his active career, Petrenko moved to the Torpedo coaching staff. Since 1985 he has looked after various reserve teams and also worked as an assistant coach for the first team. In 1997 and 1998 he was the head coach of a first division team for the first time when he was in charge of the newly founded Torpedo-SIL club. In July 2002 he took over the position of head coach at his former club Torpedo Moscow, which he held until September 2006. Since then he has had various short-term engagements and was most recently (2013/14) with the second division Yenisei Krasnoyarsk .
