Sergei Dubrovin

Sergej Dubrovin (born June 3, 1942 in Samarkand , Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic ; † August 31, 2015 in Belgrade , Serbia ) was a Soviet - Yugoslav opera singer ( tenor ).

Life

Dubrovin studied singing at the St. Petersburg State Conservatory "NA Rimsky-Korsakow" in Leningrad . After completing his training, he was hired as a soloist at the Moscow Bolshoi Theater , but then went to the Kiev Opera House as a permanent member of the ensemble . He began his career as a bass and then switched to the tenor subject via the intermediate level as a baritone . His first role as a tenor was fist in Margarethe of Charles Gounod . Dubrovin sang both lyrical tenor and dramatic tenor roles. His singing role models were Enrico Caruso and Mario Lanza .

Dubrovin was a permanent member of the Belgrade National Opera (Narodno Pozorište u Beogradu) ensemble for many years. His roles included a. Manrico in Il trovatore , Radames in Aida , Don José in Carmen , Turiddu in Cavalleria rusticana , Maurizio in Adriana Lecouvreur and the title role in Otello . In October 1992 he sang the title role in a new production of the opera Don Carlos in Belgrade .

Dubrovin also gave guest appearances in western countries, such as Hermann in Queen of Spades at the Madrid Opera House or as Sergej in Lady Macbeth von Mzensk at the Hessian State Theater in Wiesbaden .

Recordings with Dubrovin include a. a. a live recording of the opera Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk from the Kiev State Opera and excerpts (arias and duets) from Carmen .

Dubrovin died in Belgrade in August 2015 at the age of 73.
