Sergei Ivanovich Neverov ( Russian Сергей Иванович Неверов * 21st December 1961 in Tashtagol , Kemerovo Oblast , Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic , USSR ) is a Russian politician, statesman, and since October 2017 leader of the party " United Russia " in the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation .

biography

Newerow graduated from the Tashtagol College for Mining and Metallurgy in 1983, where he trained as an electrical mechanic. He later continued his studies at the institute of the same name in Siberia , where he graduated (with honors) as a mining technician. In 2000 he received another academic degree as a lawyer at the Academy for Labor and Social Relations in Moscow .

Between 1989 and 1999 Neverov was chairman of the trade union committee of the "Esaulskaya" mining company. Until 1991 he was a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union .

In 1999, Newerow was elected to the third convocation of the Russian State Duma with the support of the governor of Kemerovo Oblast Aman Tulejew for the Novokuznetsk single-mandate district. At the time he belonged to the People's Party of the Russian Federation . In September 2003 Newerow moved to the faction "United Russia", which was led by Vyacheslav Volodin . In December of the same year he was elected to the Duma of the fourth convocation as a member of the United Russia party. In Parliament, he took on the role of first deputy chairman of the Committee on Labor and Social Policy.

Relations between Neverov and Tuleev cooled noticeably in 2007 after Tuleev accused his former favorite of not having done enough to promote the development of the Kemerovo region. As a result, Newerow was deleted from the electoral list of the province. Instead, the senior officials of United Russia supported his candidacy for the Altai region , despite the fact that Nemerov was unfamiliar with the polio-economic situation in the area.

At the suggestion of party chairman Vladimir Putin , Neverov was appointed secretary of the Presidium of the General Council of "United Russia" in September 2011. On his 50th birthday, December 21, 2011, Newerow was elected Vice-Speaker of the State Duma.

In October 2017, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev nominated Neverov for the post of Chairman of the United Russia parliamentary group.

Because of the Russian actions in Crimea and eastern Ukraine , Neverov has been on the US sanctions list since July 2014 .
