Serial Butcher is a Belgian death metal band from Ghent that was formed in 1995, disbanded in 2000 and re-formed the same year.
history
The band was founded in 1995 by guitarist Hendrik and drummer Nico. A first demo followed, which was released in 1997. At that time, the group played about two to three gigs a month. The band played as the opening act for bands like Loudblast , Natron , Suffocation and Aborted . This was followed by Das Demo Exhumed Rotting in 1998, the recordings for which took place in the same year in the Midas Studios in Lokeren . After the recordings, bassist Bob left the band. Bassist Peter joined the band as a replacement, while Tim joined the band as the new singer. However, the band broke up in 2000. Nico, Hendrik and singer Steven decided to found the band again. They then released the demo Butchers Forever in 2001 . In January 2003 the band signed a contract with the US label Deepsend Records for the release of the EP Genocide Landscape . The recordings for this took place under the direction of Kris Belaen (Aborted, In-Quest ). Several line-up changes followed: Koen Van Goethem joined the band as the new bass player, while Kurt “Monie” Termonia joined the band as the singer. In April 2004 Gijs Cielen joined the band as a guitarist. In late 2008 the band recorded the album A Crash Course in Cranium Crushing . The album was recorded within two weeks in the Swedish Berno Studio , with Henrik Larsson ( The Haunted , Amon Amarth , Vomitory ) working as a producer. A demo that included three songs was pre-released. Thereupon the band reached a contract for the release of two albums with Unique Leader Records . A Crash Course in Cranium Crushing appeared at this one in 2010.
