Sesleria doerfleri is a species from the genus of blue grasses ( Sesleria ) withinthe sweet grass family (Poaceae).

Vegetative characteristics
Sesleria doerfleri is a perennial herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 50 to 70 centimeters. It forms clumps. The leaf sheaths are bare. The edge of the 3 to 5.5 millimeter wide leaves is rough at the piercing tip.
Generative characteristics
The flowering period extends from March to May. The spikelets are in a very dense panicle , which is 25 to 30 millimeters long and about 15 millimeters wide. The spikelets contain two to five flowers. The glumes are 6 millimeters in size and gradually narrow into a 2 to 4 millimeter long awn . The lemma is 4.5 to 5.5 millimeters in size and silky. The middle awn is up to 5 millimeters in size, the side 2 to 3 millimeters. The palea has an awn 2 to 3 millimeters long and is longer than the lemma.

Occurrence
Sesleria doerfleri is endemic to Crete in the prefectures of Chania and Rethymnon. The species grows on shady rock walls at altitudes of 100 to 1300 meters.
