Career

Seyed Morteza Jafari took part in his first two World Cup races in the Iranian ski resort of Dizin in July 2007 . He achieved 20th place in the Super-G and 18th place in the giant slalom as the penultimate, making him 65th in the overall World Cup for the 2007 season. A year later he took part in the 2008 Junior World Championship in Rieden, Switzerland. There he achieved placements in the lower midfield and achieved 19th place in the super combination as the best result. Shortly afterwards he also took part in the World Cup races in Dizin, where he was 18th in the Super-G but failed in the giant slalom, which ultimately meant 66th place in the overall World Cup. In the 2009 season he started in addition to the two World Cup races in three FIS races in Dizin. While he was twice twelfth in the FIS races, in which almost only Iranians took part, he achieved 23rd place in the giant slalom and 25th place in the Super-G in the World Cup races, making him 50th in the overall World Cup. Also in the 2010 season he initially took part in the FIS and World Cup races in Dizin. This year he was among the top ten in all five FIS races and came in 13th in the giant slalom World Cup. At the 2010 Junior World Championships , which was also taking place in Dizin , he won the bronze medal in the super combination, was fifth in the slalom and seventh in the super-G. He was only disqualified in giant slalom. In September 2010, Seyed Morteza Jafari took part in the finals in Italy for the first time in World Cup races outside of Iran. With 15th place in the Super-G and 20th place in the giant slalom, he achieved two placements in midfield; in the two slaloms, however, he remained without result. In the overall World Cup he was able to improve to 25th place.

In the 2011 season Jafari first took part in the FIS races in Dizin and Wilhelmsburg , where he achieved several podium places. At the Junior World Championships 2011 in Goldingen , he won two bronze medals in the giant slalom and in the Super-G. In the slalom and thus also in the combination, he failed. He also took part in the General Class World Championship, which was held together with the Junior World Championships , and in addition to two failures in the giant slalom and in the super combined, he came eighth in the super-G. After not taking part in any World Cup races in 2011, he started again in the World Cup in the 2012 season . He started at the World Cup races in Dizin and the finals in Rettenbach and achieved his first top 10 placements. The best result was fifth place in the giant slalom in Dizin. At the FIS races in Dizin, he also achieved several podium places, placing him twelfth in the overall World Cup - just one point behind the best Iranian Hossein Kalhor . He also successfully took part in the 2012 Junior World Championships in Burbach , where he won two silver medals in giant slalom and super combined as well as the bronze medal in super G. In the slalom, however, he was disqualified after a goal error in the second run.
