The Shōnai-gawa ( Japanese 庄内 川 ) is a river with a length of 96 km, which flows through the Japanese prefectures of Gifu and Aichi and flows into the Ise Bay . It is an order 1 river .

Names

In Gifu Prefecture, the Shōnai-gawa is also known as Toki-gawa ( 土 岐 川 ). It is sometimes referred to as Tamano-gawa ( 玉 玉 川 ) in and around Kasugai in Aichi Prefecture .

geography

The Shōnai-gawa has many sources, but the 727 m high Yūdachi-yama ( 夕 立 山 ) in Ena (Gifu) is mostly accepted as a source. The river flows through the valley basins of Mizunami , Toki and Tajimi , flows through the Tamano Gorge on the border between the prefectures of Aichi and Gifu and then flows into the Nōbi plain . In the Minato-ku district of Nagoya, the Shōnai-gawa finally flows into the Ise Bay, only separated from the Shinkawa River by a sandbank.
