Shūhei Tada ( Japanese 多 田 修 平 , Tada Shūhei ; born June 24, 1996 in Higashiōsaka ) is a Japanese athlete who specializes in sprinting .

Athletic career

Shuhei Tada achieved his international breakthrough in 2017. In the semifinals at the meeting in Hiratsuka on June 10, he ran 9.94 s over 100 meters with wind support. This makes him the first Japanese ever to run 100 meters under 10 seconds on home soil. The tail wind (4.5 m / s) was too big to officially recognize the record. In the final, the wind eased and Tada ran a new personal best with 10.08 seconds. This time made him the seventh fastest Japanese of all time.

At the Japanese championships on the day of his 21st birthday, he won the runner-up title and thus made a big step towards qualifying for the 2017 World Championships in London . At the world championships he was able to win the bronze medal with the relay . Two weeks later he celebrated winning the title with the 4 x 100 meter relay at the Summer Universiade in Taipei .

In 2018 he won the Asian Games in Jakarta with the Japanese 4 x 100 meter relay.
