Shūji Kikuchi ( Japanese 菊池 秀 治 , Kikuchi Shūji ; born September 7, 1986 in Tokyo Prefecture ) is a Japanese ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Tohoku Free Blades in the Asia League Ice Hockey since 2009 . Since 2011 he has played on loan for China Dragon .

Career

Shūji Kikuchi began his career as a hockey player in the team of the Hōsei University . He then signed a contract with Tohoku Free Blades , which began playing in the Asia League Ice Hockey in the 2009/10 season . The defender made two assists in 34 games in his rookie year in professional ice hockey. He also received 36 penalty minutes. In the 2010/11 season, which ended prematurely due to the Tōhoku earthquake , he and his team won the championship title of the Asia League Ice Hockey for the first time.

International

For Japan , Kikuchi took part in the U18 Junior World Championship in Division I 2004 and the U20 Junior World Championship in Division II in 2005 .
