The Tōhoku Free Blades ( Japanese 東北 フ リ ー ブ レ イ ズ , Tōhoku Furī Bureizu ) are a Japanese ice hockey club from Hachinohe , Aomori Prefecture , which was founded in 2008 and has been playing in the Asia League Ice Hockey since the 2009 season . The team is owned by the sports equipment company Xebio KK ( Xebio Co. Ltd ).

history

The Tōhoku Free Blades was founded in 2008 and began playing in the Asia League Ice Hockey in the 2009/10 season. In this they took the place of the Seibu Prince Rabbits from Tokyo Prefecture , who withdrew from the league for financial reasons after the 2008/09 season, although they were athletically successful as runners-up. The club issued its four foreign licenses to Canadian players. In the 2010/11 season, the team won the ALIH championship together with Anyang Halla after the playoff finals were canceled due to the Tōhoku earthquake . The team from Hachinohe also won the title in 2013 and 2015.
