Shane Endsley

Shane Endsley (born December 31, 1969 in Denver , Colorado ) is an American jazz trumpeter , percussionist and composer .

Live and act

Shane Endsley studied trumpet, percussion and composition at the Eastman School of Music . After his graduation he worked in the early 2000s a. a. with singer-songwriter Ani DiFranco , Jason Mraz ( Waiting for My Rocket to Come , 2002) and with Ravi Coltrane . Together with the woodwind player Ben Wendel , the keyboardist Adam Benjamin, the bassist Kaveh Rastegar and the drummer Nate Wood he is a founding member of the post-rock / jazz formation Kneebody and has played on several of the ensemble's albums. They received a Grammy nomination in 2009 for the album Twelve Songs of Charles Ives , which the group released together with Theo Bleckmann . He regularly plays with musicians from downtown New York such as Ralph Alessi , Steve Coleman , John Hollenbeck and Tim Berne , as well as Edward Simon and Donny McCaslin . In 2002 he presented his debut album 2nd Guess . In 2007, Down Beat magazine recognized him as one of the top 25 trumpeters of his generation ; in the magazine's readers poll, his music band was voted the best formation of the year. Endsley moves stylistically in the range between modern creative , post-rock, folk and free improvisation.
