Shasta Lake is a city in Shasta County in the US state of California with around 10,100 inhabitants ( 2010 census ). The urban area extends over a size of 28.3 square kilometers. The small town is located in more rural areas off the coast in the north of the state of California, but there are convenient transport links to the surrounding cities as well as to the further distant coast. The next larger city is Redding about 15 kilometers south as the crow flies .

Shasta Lake is also the name of the reservoir that is dammed up by the nearby Shasta dam (Shasta dam) . This also plays a certain role for the entire region from an economic point of view.
