Shawn Antoski (born March 25, 1970 in Brantford , Ontario ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player who played for the Vancouver Canucks , Philadelphia Flyers , Pittsburgh Penguins and Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in the National Hockey League from 1990 to 1997 . The left winger was considered an enforcer due to his physical style and robustness .

Career

Antoski played for the North Bay Centennials in the Ontario Hockey League during his junior years . He was already noticed at the Centennials because of his tough style of play and was in the penalty box for a total of 565 minutes in 168 OHL games. He was selected in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft in the first round in a total of 18th position by the Vancouver Canucks . From 1990 to 1993, the attacker played almost exclusively for the Canucks' farm team , the Milwaukee Admirals , in the International Hockey League . The 1992/93 season spent the winger with the Hamilton Canucks . In the 1993/94 season Antoski was able to recommend himself for a regular place in the NHL squad of the Canucks and completed 55 games in the NHL, in which he scored three points and received a total of 190 penalty minutes.

He was able to qualify for the playoffs with Vancouver in the same season and advanced with the team to the finals of the Stanley Cup . After losing the seventh game in the series against the New York Rangers , the Canucks missed winning the trophy. After Antoski had started weakly in the 1994/95 season and only played a few games, those responsible for the club handed him over to the Philadelphia Flyers and received the Josef Beránek as compensation from the Flyers. In Philadelphia he was able to fight for a regular place and ran in 89 games of the regular season and 20 playoff games for the Flyers. After his contract had not been renewed in the summer of 1996, he signed on July 31, 1996 as a free agent with the Pittsburgh Penguins . He was due to a hernia almost the entire season 1996/97 and was given in the spring of 1997 to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim .

He played eleven NHL games for the Ducks and announced his early retirement on November 24, 1997 after a car accident.
