Shearwater is an indie rock band formed in Austin , Texas by members Jonathan Meiburg and Will Sheff of the band Okkervil River .
history
Jonathan Meiburg and Will Sheff, who first worked together in the band Okkervil River , founded Shearwater in 2001 to release quiet songs they were working on under that name.
Kimberly Burke played bass for the first time on the band's debut album , The Dissolving Room , and Thor Harris Shearwater joined as drummer a short time later. Thanks to contributions from the multi-instrumentalist Howard Draper and appearances with The Mountain Goats , Akron / Family and Blonde Redhead , the band gained a higher level of awareness. In the further course, Shearwater's music developed and albums such as Everybody Makes Mistakes , Winged Life and Thieves EP were released.
In May 2006, Shearwater released their fourth album, Palo Santo . About a year later, in April 2007, the band released a special edition of Palo Santo under the Matador Records label , which includes bonus material and newly recorded songs from the first release.
