Shyne (born November 8, 1978 in Belize City as Jamal Michael Barrow ; now Moses Michael Leviy ), also known as Shyne Po , is a rapper from Belize .

Career

Po grew up in the Flatbush (Brooklyn) district of New York . His father Dean Barrow took over the post of Prime Minister of Belize in 2008.

So far, Shyne has released two albums: Shyne in 2000 and Godfather Buried Alive in 2004. In addition, three "unreleased" albums have been released. There are also countless mix tapes available.

In 2013 he founded his own clothing brand under the name Gangland .

Attempted murder and prison

After a shooting in a New York nightclub in December 1999, Shyne was convicted of attempted murder, negligent endangerment, and assault. Father Diddy and his girlfriend at the time, Jennifer Lopez , were also involved in the incident .

On June 1, 2001, Shyne began his ten-year sentence at the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora . In June 2005, Shyne's application for early release was dismissed by the court. His second album Godfather Buried Alive was released in 2004 through his record company Def Jam . In 2006 Shyne converted to Judaism in prison and changed his name from “Jamal Barrow” to “Moses Michael Leviy”.

Shyne was released from prison on October 6, 2009 and deported to Belize on October 28, 2009.
