Sibylle Prins

Sibylle Prins (born February 22, 1959 in Bonn ; † July 14, 2019 ) was a German author and special education teacher .

Sibylle Prins grew up in the Netherlands for the first few years . At the age of twelve she moved to Bielefeld with her family . After graduating from high school in 1978, there was a voluntary social year in a children's spa in Cuxhaven . From 1979 to 1984 Prins studied education in Paderborn and Dortmund .

During her legal clerkship for teaching at special schools between 1985 and 1987 in Osnabrück, she experienced a first schizophrenic-psychotic surge, which was followed by more in the following years. Back in Bielefeld, Prins retrained as an industrial clerk from 1989 and as a clerical clerk from 1991. Until 2002 she worked in the district church office in Bielefeld, but broke off this activity due to her illness. Since then, Prins has worked as a writer , editor and speaker.

Sybille Prins has been involved in self-help psychiatry experienced since 1991, co-founded the Bielefeld Psychosis Seminar and the Psychiatry-Experienced Bielefeld eV association founded in 1993, of which she was chairman from 1999 to the end of 2013.
