Sidonia Gall

Sidonia Gall (born November 23, 1946 in Kirchfidisch / Burgenland as Sidonia Binder ) is an Austrian author and educator . From 2009 to 2017 she was President of the Austrian Writers' Association (OeSV).

Life

Sidonia Gall has lived in Vienna since she was a child . During her school days at the Realgymnasium, she took graphics lessons with Gerda Matejka-Felden at the Vienna Art School and passed her Matura in 1964 . She completed her university studies in geography and history and taught these subjects from 1971 to 2007 at an upper secondary school in Vienna. In 1977 she received her doctorate with a dissertation on Austrian history. Other fields of study were Egyptology and philosophy .

Since 1970 she has published literary texts in magazines , anthologies and on ORF . Her work includes poetry , short prose , plays , radio plays and cultural reports. Her poetry has been translated into several languages ​​(English, Hungarian, Slovak, Farsi, Russian) and partially set to music by Otto Strobl .

In 2005 the author took the name of her longtime spouse Peter J. Gall and now publishes her literary texts under the name Sidonia Gall.

In 2009 she succeeded Alfred Warnes as the twelfth President of the OeSV . She is a member of the Austrian PEN Club , the OeSV , the literary group Podium and the IG Autorinnen Authors .
