The constituency Austria under the Enns 64 was a constituency for the elections to the House of Representatives in the Austrian crown land Austria under the Enns . The electoral district was created in 1907 with the introduction of the Reichsrat election regulations and existed until the collapse of the Habsburg monarchy .

history

After the Reichsrat had decided on the general, equal, secret and direct male suffrage in autumn 1906, the major reform of the electoral law through the sanctioning of Emperor Franz Joseph I came into effect on January 26, 1907 . With the new Reichsrat election order, a total of 516 electoral districts were created, with one member being elected in each constituency with the exception of Galicia in the course of the Reichsrat election. The member of parliament has to prevail with an absolute majority in the first ballot or in a runoff election. The constituency of Austria under the Enns comprised the judicial districts of Krems , Kirchberg and Stockerau , with the cities of Krems , Stein (both judicial district of Krems) and Stockerau belonging to constituency 36 being excluded from the electoral district.

From the Imperial Council election in 1907 was Karl List ( Christian Social Party ) emerged as the winner in the first round. He was able to get 88 percent of the vote, while the social democrat Robert Schober only got 8 percent. In the 1911 Reichsrat election List was able to successfully defend his mandate. He prevailed again in the first ballot with 76 percent, the rural candidate Leopold Schwarzinger took second place with 17 percent. In 1911, Schober was only in third place with 5 percent.
