The constituency of Austria under the Enns 63 was a constituency for the elections to the House of Representatives in the Austrian crown land of Austria under the Enns . The electoral district was created in 1907 with the introduction of the Reichsrat election regulations and existed until the collapse of the Habsburg monarchy .

history

After the Reichsrat had decided on the general, equal, secret and direct male suffrage in autumn 1906, the major reform of the electoral law through the sanctioning of Emperor Franz Joseph I came into effect on January 26, 1907 . With the new Reichsrat election order, a total of 516 electoral districts were created, with one member being elected in each constituency with the exception of Galicia in the course of the Reichsrat election. The member of parliament has to prevail with an absolute majority in the first ballot or in a runoff election. The constituency of Austria under the Enns 63 comprised the judicial districts of Melk , Mautern and Herzogenburg , whereby the communities of Melk , Pöchlarn (both judicial district of Melk) and Herzogenburg , which were part of constituency 41 , were excluded from the electoral district.

From the Imperial Council election in 1907 was Alois Lechner ( Christian Social Party ) emerged as the winner in the first round. He was able to get 80 percent of the vote, while the social democrat Johann Pölzer got 19 percent. In the realm Council Election 1911 Lechner was able to defend his position. He prevailed again in the first ballot with 72 percent. Second place again went to the Social Democrat Pölzer, who achieved 17 percent.
