The constituency of Austria under the Enns 5 was a constituency for the elections to the House of Representatives in the Austrian crown land of Austria under the Enns . The electoral district was created in 1907 with the introduction of the Reichsrat election regulations and existed until the collapse of the Habsburg monarchy .

history

After the Reichsrat had decided on the general, equal, secret and direct male suffrage in autumn 1906, the major reform of the electoral law through the sanctioning of Emperor Franz Joseph I came into effect on January 26, 1907 . With the new Reichsrat election order, a total of 516 electoral districts were created, with one member being elected in each constituency with the exception of Galicia in the course of the Reichsrat election. The MP had to prevail with an absolute majority in the first ballot or in a runoff election. The constituency Austria under the Enns 5 comprised that portion of that part of the second Wiener municipal district Leopold city , defined by the line Brigittenauer embankment 1 to 12, Upper Danube Street, Lower Danube Street, Franzensbrückenstraße, Prater Stern, Novaragasse, Zirkusgasse, Blumauergasse, Upper Augartenstraße, Mathildenplatz and Mathilde alley was limited.

The liberal social politician Julius Ofner emerged victorious from the 1907 Reichsrat election . He won the runoff election against Karl Zesewitz ( Christian Social Party ) with 62 percent of the vote . In the 1911 Reichsrat election, Ofner achieved 67 percent in the runoff election against Viktor Kienböck, who later became the National Councilor and Christian Socialist politician .

Election results

The presentation of the election results is based on the information provided by the k .k. Figures issued by the Central Statistical Commission , which are focused on the party position of the candidates. In some cases, candidates of the same party status were shown separately, in some cases they were added together. Therefore, the figures given for the candidates in the first ballot may also contain (low) votes from other candidates of the same party position (see notes).
