Siegfried Östreicher

Siegfried Östreicher (born May 15, 1919 in Munich ; † 2003 ) was a German architect who had a lasting impact , especially in the field of church architecture .

education

Östreicher studied at the Technical University of Munich , including in the 1930s with German Bestelmeyer and Roderich Fick . In 1939 he completed his studies ( Dipl.-Ing. ).

activity

Östreicher began his professional career in the building construction department of Rhein-Main-Donau AG . After 1945 he was a self-employed architect. First in Schnaitsee and after 1948 in Munich . His first assignments were in private homes.

He subsequently established himself as one of the leading church builders after the Second World War . He is known to this day for his collaboration with Emil Steffann , including at the Munich Church of St. Laurentius (1955). His first work in the field of church architecture was the construction of the chapel of Oblatinnengemeinschaft Venio ( Abbey Venio ) in Munich-Nymphenburg (1951/53). Together with Raymund Thoma he designed the choir and altars in the neo-Gothic Paulskirche in Munich.

Siegfried Östreicher died in 2003.
