Siegfried lamp

Siegfried Leucht (born March 24, 1951 ; † December 21, 2018 ) was a German sports scientist and university professor .

Life

From 1969 to 1973, Leucht studied sport and biology at the Martin Luther University (MLU) Halle-Wittenberg. He then worked at the Sports Science section of the MLU and wrote his doctoral thesis with Jürgen Leirich after receiving a research grant. At the same time he worked as a gymnastics trainer at SC Chemie Halle. In 1977 he completed his doctorate.

From 1978 to 1985 he was head of the Scientific Center of the German Gymnastics Association of the German Democratic Republic in Leipzig . During his time in Leipzig, he analyzed, among other things, the results and achievements of gymnastics world championships in publications in the journal Theory and Practice of Competitive Sports and dealt with technical and training-scientific aspects of apparatus gymnastics. In 1985 he returned to Halle and to the Martin Luther University, where he took up a position as a senior scientific assistant at the chair for sports biomechanics. In 1990 he completed a habilitation in sports biomechanics . After the end of the GDR he stayed at the MLU. In 1998, Leucht was made an adjunct professor. From 2000 to 2005 he was director of the Institute for Sport Science at MLU. His main areas of research were sports biomechanics, orthopedic biomechanics, and apparatus gymnastics.
