Siegfried Schick (musician)

Siegfried Schick (* in the 20th century in Munich ) is a German pianist , Kapellmeister and conductor as well as a former university professor .

Life

Siegfried Schick was born in Munich as the son of a violinist and concert master, from whom he received his first piano lessons at the age of five. At the age of ten, Schick was accepted into the Munich state music school " Waltershausen Seminar ", where he later passed his final exam in the subjects of conducting and piano.

After finishing school, Schick studied piano and conducting at the Munich University of Music . He also directed the choir at the Theater am Gärtnerplatz in the Bavarian capital for several years . He also worked for many years as a song accompanist, conductor of orchestral concerts and pianist. In particular, his solo concerts were broadcast by Bavarian and North German radio stations.

In the Lower Saxony state capital Hanover, the concert pianist and conductor worked from 1979 to 2003 as the musical director of the Hanover Medical Orchestra . With this semi-professional orchestra, mainly made up of medical professionals, Schick undertook concert tours through Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and South America.

Siegfried Schick also worked as a choirmaster and music director at the Hanover State Opera for around a decade before he was appointed professor at the University of Music and Theater there, where he taught until 2004.

In 2006 Siegfried Schick worked in the Kingdom of Thailand , where he gave concerts in the capital Bangkok and also taught as a guest lecturer at the College of Music there at Mahidol University .
