Career

In his youth, Wünsch played for BSG Aufbau Jüterbog and for the successor BSG Lokomotive Jüterbog. In 1968 he moved to FC Vorwärts Berlin , with whom he went to Frankfurt in 1971, where the club was now called FC Vorwärts Frankfurt (Oder). Wünsch made his debut in Berlin on the 23rd matchday of the league when he came on on June 1, 1971 in the 83rd minute for Michael Paschek in a 2-1 win over BSG Stahl Riesa . On the 25th game day he was substituted on again in the 1970/71 season. In the following season, Wünsch was only used twice. In 1972 he joined the BSG Energie Cottbus in the second-rate GDR league. In his first season at Cottbus, he played twelve times and eventually rose to the top division. There he was able to prevail as a regular player and completed 23 games in which he scored three goals, but could not prevent relegation in a league win. In the following season Wünsch scored three times in 18 games and Energie managed to get back up. In 1975/76 he took part in all 26 games, but Cottbus again failed to keep the class. In the following years he was used 83 times in the GDR league and scored five goals. At the FDGB-Pokal 1978/79 Energie reached the quarter-finals, where they were eliminated 6-1 against SG Dynamo Dresden after a two-way leg . In 1980 he went to BSG Lok RAW Cottbus, where he ended his playing career in 1986.
