Sierra Blanca is a census-designated place and county seat of Hudspeth County in the US state of Texas .
history
The place was founded in 1881 with the construction of a railroad line from the Southern Pacific through West Texas. It was not until 1914 that Sierra Blanca could have more than 350 inhabitants. The name comes from the north-western Sierra Blanca Mountain .
Between 1992 and 2001, the New Yorkers dumped their sewage sludge here .

Sierra Blanca is northeast of the Mexican border , just off Interstate 10 . It is located approximately 53 kilometers west of the town of Van Horn and 141 kilometers southeast of El Paso .
