Sigismondo Donati

Sigismondo Donati (* 1552 in Correggio ; † November 19, 1641 in Ascoli Piceno ) was the Catholic bishop of Ascoli Piceno.

biography

Donati was born in Correggio in 1552 to Antonino Cavaliere.

He was appointed Bishop of Venosa in the Kingdom of Naples on August 17, 1598.

On January 7, 1605 he was appointed Bishop of Ascoli Piceno, successor to the resigned Cardinal Bernerio.

In the period from November 14, 1618 to May 12, 1621, he was called to Venice by Pope Paul V as Apostolic Nuncio . In the dedication of Licurgo it is mentioned that he was very much appreciated by Grand Duke Cosimo II .

After his stay in Venice he returned to Ascoli Piceno, where he died on November 19, 1641.
