Sigmund Münz (born as Sigmund Minz , May 7, 1859 in Leipnik , Austrian Empire ; died September 7, 1934 in Budapest ) was an Austrian journalist and writer .

Life

Sigmund Minz was the son of the merchant Löbl Minz and Josefine Labin. His older brother was the philosopher Bernhard Münz (1856-1919). Both were related to the journalist Bernhard Münz (1857–1921).

Münz studied history in Vienna and Tübingen and received his doctorate in Vienna in 1883 with a dissertation on the Roman consul Dio Cassius .

From 1885 he worked as a foreign correspondent for German and Austrian newspapers in Italy, until 1888 in Rome , then until 1891 in Milan , Venice and Florence and wrote in particular for the Frankfurter Zeitung . From 1892 until the First World War he was a political editor and columnist for the Neue Freie Presse . Münz also wrote political essays for the Neue Wiener Journal and was a correspondent for the Argentine newspaper La Nación from 1920 to 1934 . Münz conducted political interviews and wrote his books from the personal knowledge of many politicians.
