Sigrid Kirchmann (born March 29, 1966 Bad Ischl ; married Sigrid Ortner-Kirchmann ) is a former Austrian high jumper , heptathlete and Olympian (1992).

Career

Kirchmann grew up in Ebensee . In 1982 the 16-year-old won the national championship for the first time. In 1982 at the Gymnasiade in Lille she was second in the high jump with 1.82 m.

Between 1982 and 1994 she was ten times Austrian national champion in high jump and also won two titles in heptathlon .

In 1990 she was fourth at the European Championships. In August 1992 she reached the final of the Olympic Games in Barcelona and finished fifth with 1.94 m behind the German Heike Henkel (2.02 m).
She was trained at Union Ebensee by Günther Lemmerer , who also looked after Hermann Maier and Karin Kronberger .

She celebrated the greatest success of her career on August 21, 1993 when she jumped 1.97 m and with third place in Stuttgart won the first Austrian medal at world championships in athletics . Kirchmann has held the Austrian high jump record since 1993 with 1.97 m . At the IAAF World Indoor Championships in 1995 she was eighth on March 11 in Barcelona .

For the 1996 Olympic Games she was able to qualify again. When jumping in in Atlanta , however, she tore an Achilles tendon and had to forego a start.
At the European Championships in Budapest in 1998 she made her comeback and finished fourth.

Her Austrian record with 5944 points in the heptathlon from 5./6. October 1985 could not be improved until 2012 by Ivona Dadic with 5959 points at the all-around meeting in Götzis .

At the University of Salzburg spondierte Sigrid Kirchmann, 1989, 1995, she was as Dr. phil. PhD .

Sigrid Ortner-Kirchmann now lives with her husband Jürgen Ortner and their two daughters in Schlierbach , where she works as an AHS teacher.
