Sigrun Jakubaschke

Sigrun Jakubaschke (born July 30, 1957 in Darmstadt ) is a German painter and university professor .

Life

After graduating from high school, Sigrun Jakubaschke studied at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts from 1976 to 1983 . During her studies, she made a six-month trip through Asia and New Zealand . After completing her studies, she won various art prizes, including 1st prize in the Philip Morris competition “New Painting in Germany” and the Dorothea von Stetten Art Prize .

Her artistic development was supported by a number of grants. In 1984/85 Jakubaschke received a one-year scholarship from the Villa Massimo in Rome . This was followed in 1985 by the artist funding from the Barkenhoff Foundation in Worpswede . In 1988/89, a work grant from the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg enabled her to study at the Hangzhou Art Academy in the People's Republic of China for one year . In 1991 she received a work grant from the Kunstfonds eV

Her professional career began with her work as a school teacher at secondary schools in Lübeck (1991-1994). In 1994 Jakubaschke received a professorship for painting and its transgressions at the Hanover University of Applied Sciences . In 2006 she switched to the University of Osnabrück as professor for art and art education .

Sigrun Jakubaschke mainly devotes himself to painting. However, her works also include sculptures , plaster objects and book objects. In 2017 she published the diary entries of her stay in China from 1988/89 in the book Calligraphic Journey - Memories of China .
