Silke Meier (born June 15, 1980 in Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt ) is a German handball player .

Career

After positions at HSG Cannstatt , VfL Waiblingen and TuS Metzingen , she was under contract with the Bundesliga club DJK / MJC Trier from 2000 to 2007 , where she won the German championship in 2003. She moved to Bayer 04 Leverkusen for the 2007/08 season . For the 2009/10 season Meier moved to the first division promoted VfL Sindelfingen . After VfL Sindelfingen withdrew its team in 2011, they were without a club. In October 2011 Meier was signed for a month by injury-ridden first division club HC Leipzig .

Meier, who plays on the left wing position , is part of the extended squad of the national team and has played 45 international matches in which she scored 41 goals.
