Silvia Tellenbach

Silvia Tellenbach (* 1950 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German legal scholar .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1969 at the German School in Rome , she studied comparative linguistics (intermediate examination in Slavic studies) and law. After studying in Göttingen , Tübingen and Freiburg im Breisgau, she passed the first state examination in 1974 and the second in 1976 . During her legal traineeship , she became a research assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law . After passing the second state examination, she completed a second degree in Islamic studies in Freiburg im Breisgau and Cairo . After completing her doctorate in 1984, she has been Head of Division at the Max Planck Institute since 1984. Bahçeşehir Üniversitesi awarded her an honorary doctorate on September 23, 2017 .

Her research interests are Turkish criminal and criminal procedural law, Islamic criminal law in the modern world, especially in the Islamic Republic of Iran, and constitutional law.
