Silvio Benedicto Benedetto (born March 21, 1938 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine painter , sculptor and theater director.

Life

In 1956, at the age of 18, Silvio Benedetto won first prize at the 2nd Biennale d'Arte Sacra Panamericana (2nd Biennale of Pan-American Sacred Art) in Buenos Aires .

Between 1957 and 1961 he opened several solo exhibitions in Italy, including at the Museo Provincial de Bellas Artes (Provincial Museum of Fine Arts, today Museo Provincial de Bellas Artes Timoteo Navarro ) in Tucumán . In 1961 he moved to Italy and opened solo exhibitions in numerous galleries, including in Rome , Turin , Bologna and Milan .

In the 1960s, Benedetto worked on the mural La Marcha de la Humanidad (The March of Humanity) in the Polyforum Cultural Siqueiros , a cultural, political and social institution of the World Trade Center Mexico City. Mexican Cuernavaca his works are on display in a seventy museum named after him, including the Grande deposizione con Cristo del Mantegna ( Great Cross of Christ, Mantegna ).

In the mid-1960s to the early 1990s he created numerous engravings and lithographs in Rome and exhibited in several European cities. In 1992 his first sculpture exhibition La Metafora della Montagna (The Metaphor of the Mountain) took place in the Palazzo dei Normanni in Palermo . In 1998 he exhibited his installation Via Scialoja 6 alla Künstlerhaus in the Künstlerhaus Vienna . Since 1996 he has performed three different plays as a theater director: Lo specchio di Mefistofele (The Mirror of Mefistofele, presented in Rome), Faust opera ultimo (Faust's last opera, at the Theater of Rovigo ) and Faust at the Festival of Radicondoli , inspired by Goethe's Faust .
