Sebastian Rathjen

Sebastian Rathjen (born April 23,  1982 in Hamburg ) is a German basketball player . The 1.94 meter long winger is currently part of the ART Düsseldorf Giants squad.

career

Rathjen played for TSG Bergedorf in the regional league and in the 2000/01 season, thanks to a "double license", also for SC Rist Wedel  in the 2nd basketball league . In the 2001/02 season he was with BCJ Hamburg champion of the 2. Bundesliga North and moved to Bayer Leverkusen in the basketball Bundesliga for the 2002/03 season . For the Rhinelander, he played seven games in the highest German league.

In 2003 Rathjen von Leverkusen went to Schwelmer Baskets , with whom he won the championship title in the 2nd Bundesliga North for the second time in his career in spring 2004. After promotion he initially ran for Schwelm in the first division, but moved to the second division ETB Essen during the 2004/05 season . There he was under contract until 2006.

In the first half of the 2006/07 game year, Rathjen strengthened Union Shops Rastatt (2nd Bundesliga South) before returning to the northern season of the second division in December 2006, where he worked for Phoenix Hagen until the end of the season  . After returning to Essen for a year, Rathjen retired to the regional league in 2008. Until 2011 he wore the shirt of the BG Dorsten . In the 2010/11 season he led the BG as team captain to second place, which meant promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga ProB . In the run-up to the 2011/12 season, he moved back to the regional league and signed in Bochum . With the team, Rathjen made it to the 2nd Bundesliga ProB in 2013. In January 2014 he left Bochum and joined the regional league club Giants Düsseldorf.

In 2015 he moved from Düsseldorf to DJK Adler Frintrop. With the Essen club he rose from the 2nd to the 1st regional league, with Rathjen contributing to this success as a player-coach. He also held this dual position during the 2016/17 season. For the 2017/18 season he returned (as a player) to Düsseldorf.
