Silviu Bindea (born October 24, 1912 in Blaj , Alba County , Romania , † March 6, 1992 ) was a Romanian football player and football coach . He completed 159 games in the highest Romanian football league, Divizia A , and took part in the 1934 World Cup and the 1938 World Cup.

Player career

Silviu Bindea started his career with his hometown club România Cluj . After founding the Romanian professional league Divizia A in 1932, he joined Ripensia Timișoara . There he spent the most successful time of his career and won the Romanian championship four times and the Romanian Cup twice. In his one-year stint at CAM Timișoara , he continued to emerge as a goalscorer, but was unable to build on earlier successes after his return to Ripensia. During the Second World War he played one season for CFR Turnu Severin and was able to celebrate his third cup victory during this time .

National team

Bindea played a total of 27 games for the Romanian national soccer team . He made his debut on October 16, 1932 against Austria . He took part in the soccer world championship in Italy in 1934 and the soccer world championship in France in 1938 , where he got an assignment each.

Coaching career

In his active career, Bindea jumped twice as a coach in his sporting homeland Timișoara. First he coached Locomotiva Timișoara from 1955 until relegation in 1956, in the 1960/61 season he took over Știința Timișoara for half a year .
