Simon Gordon Jared Russell, 3rd Baron Russell of Liverpool (born August 30, 1952 ) is a British peer and politician (Crossbencher).

Life

Simon Gordon Jared Russell, 3rd Baron Russell of Liverpool was born to Langley Gordon Haslingden Russell (1922-1975) and his wife Kiloran Margaret Howard (* 1926).

He attended the Charterhouse School in Surrey . He studied at Trinity College of Cambridge University and at INSEAD in Fontainebleau , France . He is a business consultant ( consultant management ) operates. He is Senior Partner (Senior Director) of the management consulting firm Spencer Stuart Management Consultants NV . He was a successful headhunter .

With the death of his grandfather Edward Russell, 2nd Baron Russell of Liverpool , he inherited the title of Baron Russell of Liverpool on April 8, 1981 . He was heir to the title because his father, the only son of Edward Russell, 2nd Baron Russell of Liverpool, had died in 1975.

Membership in the House of Lords

Upon inheriting the title of Baron Russell of Liverpool, Russell became an official member of the House of Lords on April 8, 1981 . He was a crossbencher in the House of Lords . In 1982 he took his seat in the House of Lords. His political focus areas were health policy and the school system . He was a member of the all-party drug misuse group. In the Hansard , Russell's statements from the years 1982, 1988, 1991, 1992 and 1994 are documented. He gave his inaugural address on November 23, 1982 as part of a debate on training opportunities and working conditions for young people in the manufacturing industry . The last time he spoke up was on December 1, 1994, in a debate on the health risks of substance abuse . His membership in the House of Lords ended on November 11, 1999 by the House of Lords Act 1999 . He did not run for a seat in 1999 for the 92 Erbpeers who remained in the House after the reform.

In the Register of Hereditary Peers of the House of Lords, which are available for by-election, he was later listed again.

In December 2014, Russell ran as a candidate for the by-election of hereditary peers for the House of Lords, which became necessary due to the death of Michael Allenby, 3rd Viscount Allenby and the departure of David Lytton-Cobbold, 2nd Baron Cobbold . Russell received the highest number of votes after the first count and was thus elected as the successor to Viscount Allenby in the House of Lords. In addition to Russell, John Seymour, 19th Duke of Somerset, was elected as another successor in the same by- election. On December 15, 2014, he took his oath of office.

Family and private

Russell married Dr. Gilda F. Albano. His wife is Italian ; her family comes from Salerno . The marriage had three children: Edward Charles Stanley Russell (* 1985), Leonora Maria Kiloran Russell (* 1987) and William Francis Langley Russell (* 1988). He lived in Liverpool and Cheshire . Currently (as of December 2014) he lives in London .

Probable title heir (heir apparent) is his son, the Hon. Edward Charles Stanley Russell (* 1985)
