Singida is the capital of the Singida region of the same name in Tanzania .
geography
The city of Singida is located in the center of the country at an altitude of about 1500 m and is the capital of the Singida region of the same name. It is an important traffic junction between Lake Victoria and Dodoma , but also between the west ( Rwanda ) and Dar es Salaam in the east. Singida is also on a main line of the Tanzania Railways. Singida lies on a barren plateau (semi-desert) characterized by reddish stones and rock formations at an altitude of 1500 m. The climate is semi-arid , outside of the annual two rainy seasons it is very dry. The city is surrounded by Lake Kindai in the south and Lake Singida in the north.
The B 141 runs from south to north, from which the B 3 branches off to the west and the B 143 to the east within the urban area.

Singida has been twinned with Salzburg (Austria) since 1986 .
history
The city developed at a traffic junction more than 100 years ago, belonged to German East Africa until 1918, to the British League of Nations mandate from 1919 and was a British UN trust territory from 1946 until the founding of the state of Tanzania.
economy
Singida is an administrative center with schools and health centers, a train station and a football stadium. A market forms the city center. The city is away from tourism and is characterized by many small gardens, craftsmen and traders.
