The following tables show the distribution of seats in the European Parliament for UK MEPs since the first direct election in 1979.
British MPs
The following table shows the number of MPs from Great Britain at the beginning and end of each legislative period. Until 1994, the MPs were elected by majority vote in 78 and 84 constituencies. Since 1999 the election has taken place as proportional representation in eleven constituencies.
