Glycerine

The music video for Glycerine was shot while the band was on tour in the United States. They had very little time to film as the band's visa had expired. Nonetheless, the video garnered much praise and awards, including the People's Choice Award at the MTV Video Music Awards in 1996. When producer Desmond Child heard Glycerine , he thought Rossdale would sing "Kiss the Rain" in it. When he found out it wasn't, he wrote a song called Kiss the Rain for Billie Myers . Kiss the Rain became Myers' first single, and peaked at number 15 on the US charts.

This and that

  • In the United Kingdom, a stone was a unit of measure for weight. A stone is about 6.4 kilograms . So 16 stones are about 102 kilograms. When asked what the album title Sixteen Stone meant, Rossdale said: "Once upon a time there was a lonely man ... my friend, who called a phone number advertising a '21 year Scandinavian beauty, new in town. ' When she arrived, she was forty years old and sixteen stone ... " (in German roughly:" A while ago there was a lonely man ... my friend, this man called a phone number for a 21-year-old Scandinavian beauty , who is new in town, advertised. When he met her she was 40 years old and weighed 16 stones ... ")
  • Following the release of Sixteen Stone , Bush was often said to be just a copy of Nirvana. Rossdale was even accused of trying to imitate Kurt Cobain's voice . The band has not been able to completely break away from these allegations.
