The Skagafjardarsysla is a district in the north of Iceland .

This district consists of the municipalities Akrahreppur and Skagafjörður , the latter has merged from eleven municipalities previously. The largest towns are Sauðárkrókur , Hofsós and Varmahlíð . The Skagafjarðarsýsla has an area of ​​5544 km² and is located in the constituency of Norðausturkjördæmi .
