The Vestur Skaftafellssýsla is a district in the south of Iceland .

The district is located on the south coast between the western part of Vatnajökull and Mýrdalsjökull . It consists of the municipalities Skaftárhreppur and Mýrdalshreppur , which were originally formed from seven municipalities. Vík and Kirkjubæjarklaustur are the most important places. The Vestur-Skaftafellssýsla has an area of ​​7701 km² and is located in the constituency of Suðurkjördæmi .
