Skip Bifferty

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Skip Bifferty was an English psychedelic rock band from the second half of the 1960s.

history

Skip Bifferty was formed in 1966 from the band The Chosen Few , when their singer Alan Hull (later with Lindisfarne ) was replaced by Graham Bell . The remaining band members were Mick Gallagher (keyboard), Colin Gibson (bass), John Turnbull (guitar) and Tommy Jackman (drums). Their manager Don Arden , the father of Sharon Osbourne , got them a record deal with RCA Records .

The group recorded a number of singles and one album. After disputes with Arden, they made one last recording in early 1969 under the name Heavy Jelly , with Paul Nichols on drums. Then the group broke up.

Bell, Turnbull and Gallagher appeared in 1971 as Bell & Arc. Bassist Gibson has worked with Ginger Baker , Bert Jansch , Alvin Lee and Van Morrison , among others . John Turnbull and Mick Gallagher played in 1977 with the Blockheads, Ian Dury's band .
