The Oberwesel sculpture trail is a sculpture trail on the Middle Rhine . It lies between Oberwesel and Urbar .

Project description

The sculpture path was created in 1996 through the initiative of the sculptor Willy Heinzen and the KunstVereins DiDa Art eV as a section of the Rhineland-Palatinate sculpture path . The necessary funds come from private sponsors, companies and the state of Rhineland-Palatinate.

“It is designed as a sculpture collection that has built up a collection over the years, even over decades, based on the commitment of the sculptors. (...) The art association Dida art has taken on the matter and formed a working group to develop the project further. "

- Georg Ahrens (1997)

Some works of art have since been implemented, dismantled or destroyed by storms. The factories that still exist today are located on a four-kilometer path that leads from the banks of the Rhine in Oberwesel 250 meters uphill to the Rheinhöhe near Urbar. In parts it runs on the Rheinhöhenweg Oberwesel / Boppard or the Rheinburgenweg Oberwesel / St. Goar.
