history

Nuselský SK 1909

As in other Prague suburbs, numerous football clubs were established in Nusle at the beginning of the 20th century. One of the first clubs was the Nuselský Sportovní kroužek , which had existed informally since 1907. The club was officially founded two years later and renamed the Nuselský Sportovní Klub, or Nuselský SK for short, on February 27, 1912. This year the team took part in the Charity Cup ( Pohár dobročinnosti ) for the first time, the most important competition in Bohemia at the time.

After the First World War , the Nuselský SK took part in the championship of the Central Bohemian Gaus in 1920, initially in the second highest division, the II. Třída. The club was able to win this in 1921 and thus rose to the top division of the time. In 1922, the team finished ninth, in 1923 seventh and again in 1924 ninth. The championship in 1924, expanded to 22 teams, was never played to the end.

When professionalism was introduced in 1925, Nuselský SK opted for professionalism. In the ten-team 1. asociační liga, the blue-whites were penultimate with two wins from new games. This did not result in a relegation, because the league was expanded to twelve teams. In the 1925/26 season, the Nuselský SK reached fourth place behind Sparta Prague , Slavia Prague and Viktoria Žižkov, the best result in the club's history. Seventh place in the 1927 season, however, meant relegation to the 2nd division. This belonged to Nuselský SK until the breakup of the separation of professionals and amateurs in 1934.

Even after that, the Nuselský SK played in the second highest division of Czechoslovakia and from 1939 Bohemia and Moravia. Since the 1935/36 season, the rival SK Nusle, founded in 1903, also played in the Divize . In the 1942/43 season, the Nuselský SK finished 14th and last and rose to the 1st A třída.

After the Second World War , the Nuselský SK could never build on its earlier successes. In 1953, as part of the reorganization of Czechoslovak sports, the club was renamed as TJ Slavoj Praha PPM. PPM was the abbreviation for the Prague meat processing industry (Pražský průmysl masný). After another reorganization, the club became a football division in the entire TJ Slavoj Praha club. In the 1962/63 season, the team managed to return to the 2nd division for a year, which consisted of three seasons with 14 teams each. Teams from Bohemia and Moravia played in groups A and B, and teams from Slovakia in group C. Four teams were relegated from each group. However, since three teams were relegated from the 1st division in 1963/64, another relegated team had to be found in the 2nd division. Therefore, there were two play-offs between the two tenth-placed Jiskra Jablonec and Slavoj Praha, which the North Bohemians each won 3-0.

Simultaneously with this descent, Slavoj also lost his previous soccer field, which had to give way to new apartments. Influenced by this double negative experience, the team was passed from the third directly to the fourth division. With the introduction of Divize as the third highest division for the 1965/66 season, Slavoj was only fifth class. The club gave one-year guest appearances in the fourth highest division in 1967/68 and 1975/76, after which the team shuttled between fifth and sixth league.

In 1972, after nine years in which Slavoj did not have his own space, a new football field was opened on Vyskočilova Street .

In 2003 the FK Slavoj Praha merged with the neighboring club AFK Podolí Praha to form AFK Slavoj Podolí Praha. The club plays on the square in Podolí (Kavčí Hory Stadium) in the immediate vicinity of Czech television .

History AFK Podolí Praha

AFK Podolí Praha was founded in 1912 as FK Sparta Podolí, in 1920 the club changed its name to AFK Podolí. In the 1939/40 season, the team was promoted to the then third-highest division, the 1. A třída. After the Communist Party came to power in February 1948, as part of the reorganization of Czechoslovak sport, the name was changed several times: 1951 Sokol Podolí, 1957 Baník Podolí, 1959 TJ Podolí and 1965 TJ Praha Podolí.

In 1993, the football department split off from the overall club TJ Praha Podolí and joined as AFK Podolí Praha. In 1999, the AFK succeeded in promotion to Pražský přebor, the fifth highest division. In 2003 AFK Podolí Praha merged with FK Slavoj Praha to form AFK Slavoj Podolí Praha.
