Slavomír Kňazovický (born May 3, 1967 in Piešťany ) is a former Slovak canoeist .

Career

Kňazovický finished fourth at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona in a race with the C-1 over 500 m and thus just missed a medal. Two years later he won the bronze medal at the world championships in the four-man canoe over 500 meters together with Peter Páleš , Csaba Orosz and Juraj Filip .

From then on he started in the single canoe . At the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta , he was able to win silver in the race with the C-1 over 500 m . In the following year he became European champion in single canoes over 200 meters . At the 1998 World Championships , he won silver in the same discipline.

One year before his third participation in the Olympics at the 2000 Games in Sydney , he secured bronze medals at both the World and European Championships . In Sydney he was the flag bearer of the Slovak delegation. However, he could not defend his silver medal in the C-1 over 500 m .

After his career he started to work as a coach of Ľubomír Beňo and Matej Rusnák .
