Slikkerveer is a place in the province of Zuid-Holland in the Netherlands . The place has about 8800 inhabitants on an area of about 2.7 km². The village belongs to the municipality of Ridderkerk .

Infrastructure and buildings

Slikkerveer lies on the rivers Noord (in the east) and Nieuwe Maas (in the north). In the 19th and 20th centuries there were also many shipyards and during the storm surge of 1916 the villages of Slikkerveer and Ridderkerk were flooded.

The Rotterdam - Dordrecht water bus has a stop in Slikkerveer. At the same place there is a ferry for pedestrians and bicycles to Kinderdijk and its mills in Alblasserwaard and Krimpen aan de Lek in Krimpenerwaard .

The Huys ten Donck country house, dating from 1746, with the Donckse Bos estate is located on the ring dike on the western edge of the village. The country house with manor has belonged to the Dutch noble family Groeninx van Zoelen since 1702 .

The castle ruins of Huys te Woude from 1371 and the monumental farm Huis te Woude from 1610 are located on the ring dike on the eastern edge of the village .
